Fire Risk Assessments
Installing a fire alarm system in your premises is crucial for protecting your organization and staff from fire hazards.
Fire Risk Assessments & Compliance
Legal Requirements for Businesses
If your organisation employs five or more people, your premises are licensed, or an alterations notice is in force, you are required to carry out a fire risk assessment and implement a fire management plan to comply with current legislation.
Commercial Premises
All commercial premises must have a designated "responsible person" who ensures compliance with fire safety regulations. In most cases, this is the employer and/or owner of the workplace or premises. However, anyone with a level of control over the premises or a specific part of it can be designated as the responsible person.
Contact UsWhat a Fire Risk Assessment Involves
The responsible person must conduct a thorough assessment of fire risks affecting everyone on the premises. This includes identifying potential sources of ignition, such as heaters and open flames, as well as sources of fuel, including display materials, paper, fabric, stocked products, and waste. The assessment should also account for sources of oxygen, such as compressed gases, natural ventilation, and forced air circulation. Additionally, it must determine who may be at risk, particularly employees working near fire hazards, those working alone or in isolated areas, and vulnerable groups such as children, parents, the elderly, infirm, and disabled individuals.
Professional Fire Risk Assessments
If your premises or business operations are complex, you may not feel confident conducting a full fire risk assessment on your own. Many businesses lack the time and resources to complete a thorough assessment. This is where Fire Protection Services Northwest can help. We offer professional fire risk assessments at competitive prices across the Northwest UK.
